The rapid expansion of the internet and digital technologies, while providing extensive opportunities in education, communication, and access to information, has simultaneously led to the emergence of a new phenomenon known as digital or internet addiction. This issue has become particularly prominent among adolescents and young adults, bringing with it significant psychological, social, and academic consequences. Traditional approaches to the diagnosis and intervention of digital addiction have largely relied on self-report questionnaires and cross-sectional clinical assessments. Due to their subjective nature, limited capacity for continuous monitoring, and inability to accurately predict high-risk behaviors, these methods demonstrate restricted effectiveness. The present study adopts an analytical–review approach to examine the application of artificial intelligence and big data analytics in the detection, monitoring, and intervention of digital addiction. The findings of the reviewed studies indicate that the use of machine learning and deep learning algorithms, alongside real-time analysis of users’ behavioral data, enables the early identification of addictive patterns, prediction of the trajectory of digital dependence, and design of personalized interventions. Moreover, tools such as therapeutic chatbots, intelligent applications, and remote monitoring systems play a significant role in providing continuous care, improving access to treatment services, and reducing inequalities in mental health care. Despite these considerable potentials, challenges related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, and ethical considerations highlight the necessity of developing appropriate legal frameworks and responsible policy-making in the field of digital health.
